    Default AR recoil path

I've been looking at pictures of AR uppers and lowers. Now I'm wondering where the recoil is transferred from the upper to the stock. Is there supposed to be firm contact across the top half of the threaded buffer tube tower, or is the load taken across the lug of the rear takedown pin?

I would say the recoil load is transferred to both takedown pins

That'd put a sizeable load across those holes in the aluminum receiver, even with a .223. Hmm.

You have to remember it has a looking bolt and that also takes some of the recoil forces.
