Default m16a2 stripped uppers $40-$45 each

AR15/M16 Rifle Parts & Accessories, Flat Top Upper, Rear Sight - SARCO, Inc.

pretty good price on stripped a2 uppers.

the $40 a2 type have a sandblasted finish. the $45 a2s have the GI finish and probably a little wear. but for a retro build i don't see how you can go very wrong on um.

be aware that these probably don't have the m4 ramps. if you have a m4 barrel extension you'll have to blend them in.

my new a2 LAR upper i blended to the DPMS barrel, not really much to the blending part.

though i have been told that mall-ninjas drop dead at the mear "thought" of a tiny-teeny bit of grinding, filing or fitting!--LOL

this is a sarco deal. so far i have had no problems with their e-sarco orders --YMMV though.

mine came out to $50.95 shipped. so there S&S ain't too bad if you don't dog-pile your order with a bunch of extra stuff.

not a bad price, depending on the interior wear...

FYI, you don't have to put the m4 cuts when using an M4 barrel, but it won't hurt, and you should get the M4 cut "benefits" which are next to nil on semi-auto.

    an M4 upper with a non-M4 barrel is a no-go, but M4 Barrel on a non-M4 upper is acceptable.

only reason I'd hesitate to make the cuts is the anodizing is gone, and you've got softer aluminum exposed there now...

    Angry Yes we do..

As an official Mall Ninja. I take offense at that remark. If I or my fellow Ninjas. Ever saw someone grinding an AR. We would go Kung foo on them.
You are my official adviser on these weapons j4.
Now now. My heart grows sad with sorrow, at the mere mention of grinding.
We buy only the best. Then we fire one round to make sure it works.
Then spend 4 hours cleaning our weapons. Never too be fired again.
We sell our women, children and pets, too Gypsies, for money too buy the best.
Now I must meditate for 2 hours, at the mere thought of grinding.
We Mall Ninjas have feelings. Please stop picking on us.
Our next Ninja club meeting is at the "Blood and Guts" bar.
Hey. Happy hour. .90 cent drafts.
I will show them what you guys said. Oh yeah. Your in big trouble. Yup.

    Talking Nah...

We drink Old Milwaukee light. Sorry Milwaukee beer drinkers.
I have chased about 10 drunks out of here by giving them that stuff.
We keep the expensive stuff "Busch beer" for us club members only.
$11.99 at Wally World on sale.
Hell bottled water costs more than that.

we got some kind of generic beer -- i can't recall what it is called but @ $9.99 a 30 pack cold i am thinking of using it for gasoline! LOL!

it also doubles as a fire-ant killer just dilute it with water 100-1 ratio for the sprayer and your all set!

OK the el-cheapo a2 came in today.

the good news----it is a colt --it looks use-able and the insides of it arn't worn.

    the bad--

the outside though looks like it might have spent the last ten years riding around in a duce and a half in one of those sand hole, flea infested places.

if you just got to have a colt it is OK--but for the money the LAR $48 blem is much better deal if you want a a2 that looks perfect IMHO.

this fucker looks old--if it was an a1 it could pass for the one i humped around the island back in 81!

it looks older than the 40+ year old colt 603 and 604 uppers i got from JSE for $20!!

don't get one of these less your looking for vintage stuff--i mean REAL vintage--LOL!

    a follow up.

SARCO says they post reviews even IF there critical. WELL---

    hell they NEVER posted mine.

and all that i said about the upper was the about the same as posted here. minus the part about the new LARs going for $48

Be aware that SARCO may overstate the condition of their surplus goods.

most of the stuff i have got from SARCO has been as advertised.

i will take their descriptions of surplus stuff from now on with a big grain of salt!--

this one is battlefield pick-up all the way!

    LOL!

So, in other words if you're not doing a retro build, then keep looking? Every now and again a decent Armalite will pop up for peanuts. I'd just as soon grab one of theirs for a retro. . . ?

well the $48 LAR blemished upper is much much better if you want a A2.

these are OK if you want a battlefield pick up look.

some might be better than mine, some might be worse.

the one SARCO sent me was a colt with USGI proof marks. so if you want a colt made a2 i suppose their worth $45 if you know their going to be pretty rough going in.

i have bought new looking a1 uppers for as little as $20 a pop really clean ones often go for $40-$50. they were all colts with government proof marks so their not really "scarce".

the problem with the sarco a2's is that their condition is much worse than stated in their ad.
