    Question What the hell happened

What time is it? Sorry bout that guys.. Yes j4. The whole crew stopped by for our daily happy hour on the dock and I forgot about the post..
Gunco Bob said he will ban me if I post after 4 p.m. so I had too wait.
    O.K. question?
Were putting my Bros AR together.. Progress.
    - We put the gas tube on pinned upside down. Got too fix that.
    - What the hell washer do you need too hold this thing together?
    - Main question. How the hell do you head space this thing?
When you buy the parts separate and put it together, is the weapon normally just naturally head spaced?
What the hell do we do too test fire? Tie it too a tree with a string and pull the trigger?
Thank yall in advance for any help. 4th..

If your using a barrel with the barrel extension(the part the bolt locks into) already installed, it will be headspaced to mil-spec.

    ARs are easy

welcome back 4th! too bad i couldn't be around for the beer break!

the ar-15,M16 series is modular design. everything is made to a common standard.

just about every AR-15/M16 has the same head-space. this is why any brand or make of bolt will work.

you can check the head-space with a couple go and no go NATO dummy rounds.

you can also check it to some extent with a live round if the barrel and bolt are not assembled.

many don't bother much with checking the head-space on an AR-15. so far i have only seen ONE that didn't use the standard head-space formula.

even a non standard round like the 5.45,7.62x39, and so on head-space the same.

there are a few exceptions to the "all ar-15 head-space the same" rule, the AA made 6.5 grendels use a non standard head=space and an AA barrel requires a AA made bolt to be correct.

i know some Olympic barrels don't head-space correctly because the chambers arn't fully finished . a bolt won't fully close on a round or if it does it will be way--too tight.

if it was me i would not worry too much about the head space.

when i test fire a new upper i generally just take it out and fire a few rounds , check the spent cases for anything "odd" .

then i check the weapon out to make sure nothing is getting loose or backing out--bumping or grinding-.

you got some fun on your hands if you bent that gas tube --LOL! they can be cranky if they got a little bow in um!
