Talking SMG $89 16" m4 barrels in stock

sports mans guide has a shipment of the ess 16" m4 barrels for $89 for club members, 1-7" twist stripped.

you can get a discount code and get $10 or more off--

they got one nice code where you get free shipping and a $20 gift card over at "retail me not" you'll have to hunt around over there and see what cooking on the discount codes.

i think the one i ordered came out to $92 shipped.

be aware i have not shot this barrel --but ESS is not "hated" by anyone i know and the gas ports are known to run small. i think they make a decent budget barrel.

I ordered one before they were out. Non-member price was $99 but a $10 dollar off as well as $20 gift card really helped. Hope the barrel looks good when I get it. I will try to remember to post pics.

i got one too , it is due in today--

i think ESS barrels are OK, plain 4140 steel and park.

they are bad about undersized gas ports - this is not a biggie on a stripped barrel --a few seconds with a drill and your good to go.

well it came in today. in a great big box fed-ex ground.

the barrel was well protected in a oversized box wrapped up in heavy paper and then 4 or 5 layers of bubble wrap.

it is unmarked, and has a dark-green black park on it. it has m4 ramps, the gas port looks to be on the smallish side but i'll have to break out the digital caliper to see.

another shocker is the bore looks sort of bright for a barrel that is looks like it was parked outside and inside.

i'm going to give it a through cleaning and see whats up--hell there could be chrome under there--LOL-- yea wishful thinking--LOL

i haven't checked the chamber yet but the mk4 eyeball says it looks a lot like a 5.56 nato chamber.

just going on looks it seems to be a nice deal for $92 shipped , if it shoots as well a hell of a deal.

gas port measured a tight .062" -- NATO chamber so far it looks good. i think i'll try it with the stock sized colt spec gas port.

everything fits like it supposed to. running a brass brush through it a few times really cleaned the bore up. if i didn't know better i would think it was chrome lined.

i still waiting for gas tubes and a gas block--

if i don't get too swamped i should get the chance to test fire it some time next week--provided all the parts arrive on time--

got my replica nam/colt-605. navy seal replica upper assembled-- didn't have to cut into the barrel i threaded a couple screws into an old FSB/gb --wasn't that much too it.

sort of make your own dissy--day. going to give it a whirl and see how this small .063 port does with crappy tula and an aluminum gas block from china/amazon!

fired a few rounds of tula 55gr yesterday, short stroke city!.

i didn't try real ammo , next chance i get i'll try some hornady 75gr tap and some 63gr fodder.

i never seen one shot stroke this much, out of 7 rounds is filed to extract 7 times. didn't even try to feed the next round.

makes me wonder if i put the gas-tube in upside down--LOL

at least that gas block is easy to remove.

well tried the wolf 75gr and still no cycle.

i took the upper back down and blueprinted the gas port/gas block holes and before i did that i drilled the port with a .063 bit to clean it up a bit.

after all that it will all-most cycle with 75gr wolf.

i broke out the drill bits and opened the port up to .0784--

i think this should be plenty for a 16"

it is getting close --to running right -- i just need more time to mess with it.
