    Default 20" pencil barrels available

    finally

i was reading a thread on ar-15 last night when I came upon a thread on barrel availability

as you know these have been hard to find in the past 6 months plus several distributors are saying they are are going to be available in august

this firm has barrrels but the front sights are not mounted and have m-4 ramps otherwise these are the coorecr barrels for the M-16 retro build

    http://shop.ar15hardware.com.
for $169.00 total $186 with shipping
    http://shop.ar15hardware.com/20-M16A...20lwt556cm.htm

some folks seemed concerned about front sight indexing, so if this concerns you, wait for the others to offer then with the front sights installed. also they may not be chrome lined

Thanks for the heads up Sprat!!
    Enforcement, NOT Amnesty!!!!!!

looks like the 20" pencil barrels for $89 shipped are still AWOL--

a cheat way to do the index is drill and tap the FSB/GB! then you can adjust out any tilt in the gas block -- i also drill a tiny indent in the barrel to center up the screws then lock tight them in.

    their pretty solid then.

you all know how i am though --i go back a few months later and strip the thing down then flat top it and scope it!--LOL!

all ready out of stock, why no one wants to make them is a good one seeing everyone buys them out as soon as you know it. i rather like it and prefer it over a a2 barrel.

yes and there are more better kits coming I saw some in centerfires catalog that claim to be better and the price seemed better

I am not keen on your indexing method J427x not because it is not doable or even proper I just don't want to drill into the front sight and or the dimple on the barrel its me. in a pinch your method is valid

yea that will work as long as the gas port is properly located. if you index off the gas port and it is off you could end up with a canted gas block.
