Post1911 wood stocking the ar-15 anybody tried it?

ya know one of the things that gripes me about the ar/m16 series is all the plastic. they just look so "industrial" and scream "military industrial complex!" compared to a nice 30-30 leaver gun with walnut stocks .

now boyds and a couple other places sell wood furniture for the AR-15 series -- and i got my eye on this nice walnut- set--

anybody wooded up a AR? how did it turn out?

ya know i went all walnut and coco-bolo on the 1911s!!--LOL!

I just googled them, pretty cool. Reminds me of a FAL like that. Gives the AK guys some ammo too since you always hear "stop trying to make your AK into an AR!" haha!

Since i saw them for sale at Boyds I had that in mind to. If I'll do it one of these days I will go with the "pepper" laminated.
I think with the added weight of the wood you probably won't feel any recoil at all when shooting the 62gr or higher.

Oh, forgot to mention. What about the grip? I did not see Boyds offering that.

I've played around with my arsenal polymer vs my wooden stuff on my AK since I built it and I'm finally sticking with the wood. Looks better(IMO) and the added weight makes a noticeable difference in recoil reduction/follow-ups.

Can't imagine what it does to an AR, probably feels like a 22.

I've fondled and shot a few rounds through one up at the range. Feels warmer, and heavier by maybe 10-11 oz at most. The guy also had a "quiet" recoil setup installed in his, not sure if it was hydraulic or other variety. I am still temped to build a "Range Only" AR just because it was kinda pleasant to shoot. The guy told me that he gets asked every time he goes to the range about it....

Ironwood Designs has them. I have gotten their products for some of my other rifles, they are well done.
