    Default 9mm Build ?

Do you need to use a different recoil spring & buffer on a 9mm AR carbine?

that entirely depends on who you ask. :-)

im ran the stock spring/buffer combo on a 16" pencil barrel for several thousand rounds..... was usually 115gn stuff.

    never had any issues.

other people swear you have to change it.

& yes im running the same lower unit on the TOK upper after selling the 9mm.

that depends on how strong the spring is.

a strong spring with a good dead blow type buffer should run fine.

    lol

nah i think what both of are saying is that lots of people want to make this hobby more complicated than it has to be... & sell you a bill of goods. :-0

special this, special that.... when really the AR set up is pretty variable for pistol ammo's. the buffer set up is easy to work with, with small changes in port or weight.

I have noticed a little bit less recoil with the heavier buffer. Smoother cycle. Spring is OK.

A cheap heavy buffer is available from RRA. Check out the 9mm parts section on their site.

Don't get one from the guy who wants $80/ea for his!

That guy has been out here a while.

Anybody may sell in a public domain.

    But, man come on.

i just run a rifle buffer in mine with a couple added weights 0-- i think it cost like -$0-from my junk box. i think the dead blow function is as important as weight.

one of my NFA pals attempted to run a solid buffer and had some 'issues" like split brass --ironically he went to a lighter buffer with weights and spacers+ a stronger spring and so on and split problems went away--

solid weights don't do squat for bolt bounce. although a $4 spring can do wonders--

you don't have to throw $$$ at these things to get them to run.

Well it's a blow back setup, if that means anything.

But as mentioned I think I'll just try what I got first and see what happens. I got a spare carbine buffer and recoil spring.
