    Default FAL Rear Sight

I took my FAL out to the range last weekend. I knew this was going to be an issue.

After I had the barrel cut down to 16.5" it now shoots low, I mean LOW. How low?? well when I have the front sight ALL THE WAY DOWN, and the rear ALL THE WAY UP. It shoots about 2-3' low STILL!!!

Is there a rear sight I can buy that will replace the one I have with a higher peep? Im tempted to cut it off, and weld a new longer one on... but would really like to only end up spending about $20-30 on a new peep/slider.

I would really like to be able to bring my front sight up a bit also...

Any Ideas??? (I really REALLY dont want to grind my front sight down)

you could try recutting the crown I've heard when guys shorten a barrel if the crown isn't trued up and and recut it can shoot all over the place but I thought it just made group size huge not sure about shooting low maybe some one more wise then me can help you out

I can put in a 6" group (remember that Im aiming at the dirt 2' below the target and really dont have a bullseye to sight at) so Im not that worried abou the group size yet... I crowned it with a 11* crown out to about 50% of wall thickness.

I will look into an Inch rear... do they just slide right on?

Get the whole sight/base and it should go onto the lower without much fuss.

Why not just get a different front sight... they come in all different heights.
...I'm not tense! Just terribly, terribly alert.

I would need to take off an 1/8" to the front sight to make things work just ok. I will look into getting a Rear Inch sight

Does anyone have one they want to trade???

Where can I get one at???

I'd go with the other rear sight, the slightly higher sight plane is more similar to the AR. When using an AR for a long time, then switching to a metric FAL I'll notice that looking through the aperture I'll see the gasblock rather than the sight, then I correct my cheekweld. The inch is much closer. The folding sight is cool too...

Just a personal thing, as everyone holds their rifle different I'm probably the only person who notices this...
