Visitors to Louisville for the National Rifle Association convention are filling thousands of hotel rooms, but convention recruiters say the publicity the event generates is almost as important as the money spent in town. NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said convention officials in cities where the organization has gathered in recent years have estimated the convention's economic impact as high as $15 million to $20 million. The Louisville bureau notes that the monetary value of any convention to the community is hard to fix. And Wood acknowledged that the NRA convention's actual economic impact may be closer to $6 million.
