Postak Massachusetts: Hunting at issue in plan to curb deer

State and town officials are grappling with what will happen if Dover implements an expanded deer-hunting season to combat Lyme disease this year, and the question has started a dialogue about a regional evaluation of hunting in the suburbs.

The town they are talking about, Dover is only a couple of towns over from where I grew up. It is full of libs. They are going to shit their pants if this goes through. The whole reason they are having this problem is because 90% of the town is posted.

I lived in Needham for a while. The woods all throughout those suburbs are perfect deer habitat. I agree wholeheartedly with 7.62x39, the people living there will shit, and their attitude in general toward the real world is likely one of the reasons the deer population has never been managed.

Therer are counties here that allow Shotgun only during deer season, but I suppose that your avg liberal, anti gunner will not understand this.
Listen, you dont need to have a high power rifle to hunt whitetail deer.
Perhaps they should embrace and offer extended muzzle and bow seasons?

Almost all of MA is shotgun only. I don't hunt with a bow and arrow or black powder, but I believe both of those seasons were recently extended. I know that they recently raised the limit from 1 deer to 2 per year. They have also been increasing the amount of anterless (Doe) permits that they give out each year through the lottery.
