As the 2009 session continues to progress in Montgomery, three pro-gun bills will be taken up as early as this week: House Bill 362, sponsored by State Representative Craig Ford (D-28), passed the House Commerce Committee by a unanimous vote a few weeks ago, but not before an anti-gun amendment was attached. HB362 is now expected to be heard by the full House on Thursday, April 16.Senate Bill 296, sponsored by State Senator Scott Beason (R-17), would protect our Second Amendment rights by prohibiting any government agency from confiscating firearms or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms during a state of emergency. House Bill 432 passed out of the House in early March and is expecting action in the Senate Judiciary Committee soon.
