Default Magpul MOE Hand Guard on Saiga Rifle?

Do you guys know if a Magpul MOE Hand Guard can be used on a Saiga rifle? The MOE HG would have to be modified (cuts made) to fit the Saiga barrel. Some parts would have to be added/created as well. I'm not sure if it's worth it or of the best way to do it though. Any thoughts?

Don't AR handguards use a clamshell design similar to FAL? If so for htese then you could possibly fit them on the back with a bunch of cutting, but I'm not sure how they would mate to the front.

Why these? If you are looking for a ventilated wraparound style handguard then the Tapco Galil style handguards would work better IMO as they are already fit to the AK pattern.

Yeah, this might require more work than I'd like. I just like the way the MOE HG's look.

The Galil ones are a bit more curvey. You may have some trouble finding a similar set of AK handguards. You could probably chop up those MOE handguards to work but I'd be worried that you couldn't get a good interface on the front. I have seen someone add free-floated handguards with a ring they added on the back, I think they just welded it onto the trunion. That would let you lock up the back and then you could figure on welding something to the normal hanguard retainer to make it fit.

It all depends on your file-fu.
I think it would look cool, if that helps you justify the time.

Slug says try it. If you get it right. you may be a trend setter. if not. oh well, at least you tried.

I would pick up a OEM cheap take off and hack it up first.

Hmmmm........ I think I have a M2 handguard floatin around Frankenslugs Lair........

I made one work for my Micro Galil so I would think it could be done. The front "mounting" would be the hardest part I think.

A short thread I posted on Uzitalk has the pictures.

I found that a Dremil tool with a cutting wheel worked better then my bridgeport milling machine, the mill was to agressive and caused vibration even with a slow feed rate.
