Here's first attempt at putting together a pressed and pinned AK front sight for my Saiga 12. I used a AK-74 FS and Tig welded it to a correct ID piece of tubing stock. I'm going to probably abandon the spring loaded retainer pin idea or go with a AKM style sight for the next attempt. The pin retainer pin location of the prototype using AK-74 FS is too high while keeping the FS at the overall correct height. Also want to add a bayonet lug for coolness. Bottom photo for reference where I'm going with this.
looks factory to me nice work. I need some gas block made like that for varmit barrel builds. Id use a very light press fit as Shot gun barrel is a lot more delicate than a rifle. (im sure you knew that)
im a new member and that ak front sight is awesome
do you think you could use a couple of small set screws on the bottom to
hold it on intead of a press fir or both maybe?
