    As anyone made the magwell box for the s12 ?

    I looks like a shallow mag well that mounts to the receiver and allows the mag to be inserted/removed with a straight up & down motion rather then rocking it in.

    Does it have like spring loaded latches [like the one that's on the front of a trigger guard on any AK] on the front and back, but you'd only need to use the back one to remove the mag, just like the solid front mag lug that's already there?

    ok.. I think I saw one of these on a Saiga video about the Saiga 12 versions available.

    Looked pretty cool.

    No, it just has the latch at the rear to release the mag, it's permently attached to the receiver.
    You do have to mod the mag to work with these, and the mags won't work in a rifle that doesn't have one of these mag well. That part on the front of the mag that locks into the trunnion is shaved off.

    Oh, now I understand how it works, the rear locking lug is the only thing that holds it in the rifle, and the "box" keeps it aligned.

    You don't have to mod the mag if you just buy the mags that are made for the mag well.

    True, but I heard (don't know how true it is) that the mags made for the mag well are hard to get.
