Sure, whatever. [looks in file folder] The Form 4 for my 12-gauge still says "AOW" on it.

When signed out it goes as follows: long gun, pistol or receiver.
In this scenario it will be receiver.
There is no way to turn it into an AOW period.
No one I know would be willing to falsify paperwork to appease anybody just to get sent to prison.

Your app WILL be turned down should you submit one.
Then you may also qualify to be on their watch list. It just ain 't worth it.

A virgin receiver is a virgin receiver. It can be built into a pistol if it is truly virgin or it can be built into an AOW or a long gun. Once a long gun it cannot be made into an AOW. Pistols can be made into AOW's and virgin receivers can be made into AOW's. An SOT can register and engrave a virgin or pistol receiver into AOW status and file a form 2 with the ATF and file paperwork for a form 4 to an individual and the AOW will transfer with the $5 tax or an individual can file a form 1 with a pistol or virgin receiver and pay $200 and get it engraved once approved.

    This is false.

If the SOT constructs a brand new receiver, he can make an AOW on it. Nobody goes to jail. Nobody loses a license. Probably have to Xfer on a F4 at that point, but that's sementics.

An AOW cannot ever have had a butt stock attached.

Please familiarize yourself with the laws before providing misleading information.

Reading 5845 (a-e) of the IRS code it might be possible. It's worded really poorly... as with many things, the ATF reverses itself all the time, so who knows.

I was a licensed 02/07 SOT manufacturer for 6 years, a licensed importer and an Class 1 and a Class 3 dealer. You can build a AOW from a virgin receiver. You need a virgin receiver. Any of the US made 1.5mm wall thickness RPK/Yugo style receivers can be used if the rails and center support are changed to Saiga shotgun configuration and the magwell is opened up. A couple of hours work, some drill bits, rivetting tools and a welder. Then its just a question of registering it as an AOW either by a manufacturer or by an individual on a form 1. The Saiga shotgun has all the parts you need on it so yes, you are going to do it with a Saiga 12 that came into this country.

I went back and read the whole first page on this.
I specifically was referring to the saiga 12.
There was mention I see about making a new receiver and doing a form 4.
I don't know WTF I was thinking but I ain't gonna apologize for shit.

TRX -- your 12 gauge obviously doesn't have a shoulder stock on it if it's an AOW and the barrel is under 18". It ain't a Saiga either.

Nalioth, You aint the ATF god of laws.

Civvies can't have an AOW saiga 12. THAT would be a postie.

Tom Cole (owner of Cadiz Gun Works) is taking orders now.

You seem hell-bent on ignoring the other folks here who know the laws (since I don't know nothin')

You can build an AOW on a virgin receiver.

A SOT 7 can manufacture all the virgin receivers they like.

Can you do the simple math?

Here is Tom Cole's announcement over at the Saiga-12 board: SBS and AOW 8 inch 12 ga. models - Saiga-12.com

He can obviously comprehend the law.
