Question Experience with Primary Arms Mini Red Dot???

Or any of the other budget mini red dots out there, like the SIG Pro, or Quantum or whatever it is that Cheaper than Dirt sells. I know that they are all Chinese manufactured, and all in the $100.00 range. I have searched and found the typical AR15.com response of "if it isn't an Eotech or a "insert your premium brand choice here" then it's crap, but nothing from an actual user that has put one through it's paces. Yes, I would much rather buy an Acog, but I don't have a grand to spend on a red dot that probably won't see a lot of use, unless civil war breaks out. I just want something that is "decent" for the money, and isn't going to break the first time I pull the trigger.

So, does anyone have any practical, real world experience with one of these low dollar brands? Thanks in advance.

Ive played with a few, had a UTG ( i think ) on my Saiga for a little while. They seem to work good enough. I had two problems with mine, First, it ate through batteries. Second was because it ate through batteries, I couldnt spend much time out shooting with it in the desert, just too bright, and the spot would be invisible. another one I had was pretty good with the battery, but was the size of a beer can! looekd smaller when i ordered it. im all for full field of view when aiming, but both eyes could almost look through that sucker!

I gotta say though, yes, my Eotech that I got 2 years ago when i re enlisted ad got that big incentive check, is just awesome. great battery life, great visible reticle, I just love that thing. Thats the problem I have found with red dots, and a lot else in life, you get what you pay for. do you want to have one just to use every now and then in a nice calm environment, or do you want one that you can drop on its head and pick it up and it forgives you, says thanks, and keeps on going. My eotech was like $450. And i have abused that sucker.

i have a PA and a hammers 30mm. the PA is the better of the two. the hammer is OK . its battery life is marginal -- i think the PA is the best in its price range. it don't compare to the $700-$1000 models. it is fine for what i do with it.

mostly a low light co-witness , rest of the times i shoot with irons or a scope.

I'd do a search for "mini red dot scope" and check out what's on the market.
A lot of them are made about the same. I'd avoid the low cost ones because of quality control or just plan crap, I think the 100-150 range ones are decent, if you can go a little more.
I'm not exactly sure of all the models you mentioned, but also check Bushnell

i've had one. they hold a zero and are a tough little sight. the only thing i didn't like was looking thru it, the lens had a blueish tint. for budget sight, they are hard to beat for the money. BTW, PA has great service.

All good info gents. Thanks. I have at least 2 that I absolutely have to get optics on, and I don't want total junk. If I didn't have to do head gaskets on one of the fleet, I'd probably get my dream Acog with my tax refund. Oh well.

I put a Millet red dot, the one with the variable sized dot on an MP5SD last week and I really like it. It cost about $105.00 delivered...even came with a spare battery. Brand new from a dealer in NY from off of E-Bay.

I am a fan. I have one on my WASR 10 and love the thing. Just so you know, me and my buddies sometimes ummm, stress test things. We ent out to a private area with the PA Micro red dot attached to a 16" AR upper and zeroed it then just abused the upper to see if we could jack up the optic. We actually put a crack in the rear lens and the thing still held zero. I like it and it doesn't cost $600 like and Aimpoint Micro which I absolutely think is extremely overpriced. The cool thing about PA is if you buy it and you don't like it thenyou can probably sell it for $50 or something and not be too eart broken about it.
