    can you do a SBR and a can at the same time? are you charged $200 each or can you get them at the same time and only pay $200 in taxes?

    I pretty sure they are seperate, now if it's permently attached it might be done on one form?

    yea that is sort of what i am thinking??

    if i have a 10.5" barrel and have a can that is 5.5" long and tack weld it /blind pin it to the barrel will i only need one stamp from the atf?

    If the can is permanently attached to the bbl it's the same as a flash hider or muzzle brake, considered part of the bbl for length measurement. The problem is some cans come apart for cleaning, so the part welded to the bbl would have to be constructed so it retains it's length when the can is taken apart. Some do this by welding the rear cap and outer tube together, others use a "monocore" baffle and the outer tube comes off.

    If you're going to do a permanently attached can, you might be able to make the front end removable for cleaning, and as long as it was the legal minimum(16" rifles, 18" shotguns), you would only need the stamp for the can. But what's the fun in that?
