The latest thinking on this is the case coating is not an issue, the issue is firing brass ammo after shooting steel ammo. The steel apparently does not expand exactly the same as brass, and allows gas to "leak" back around the case and onto the chamber walls, leaving carbon deposits behind. Tests I have seen they fired a hundred brass then went to steel, no jams. Fired a hundred steel and went to brass, failures to extract. Same gun and ammo. YMMV.
