I picked up a Molot Vepr II in .308 from a guy over at Saiga-12.com forum and I'll tell you, now I know why the Russian government shut Molot company down. The fit an finish on one of these Vepr rifles is far better than what is normally seen on the Izhmash rifles. And out of the box accuracy with iron sights far exceeded my expectations. The picture tells it all. 100 yards off hand with iron sights. Four shot group.
I've had one in 223Rem for several years now. It's a great shooter and looks good too. It seems like there have never been enough Vepr's imported to fill the demand. Are you sure Molot is shut down? I've heard mixed information.
I heard that the govt said they infringed the Kalashnikov design and therefore are sentenced to prison.
