    Default help identifying mauser markings

Freind of mine wants to buy this and I'm not sure what it is. Click to make it larger, the markings look cyrillic(sic) to me. Russian capture 98k? 98k with markings ground off and replaced by Yugoslavian communist markings? Thanks.

I think you have an Yugo M48 BO mode sometimes called an Egyptian model.

Ok, after considerable surfing I have found it. It is a German 98k re-arsenaled by Yugoslavia. Receiver markings ground off and replaced. It is called the "Preduzece 44".

I remember when those were being sold....been a while. Only one or two vendors had them and there weren't many imported compared to the Turk M38 and the Yugo M48.

Do an internet search for Mauser codes and the first one that comes up will give you a bunch of info. and there is some other sites there that will help. I don't really know how to post a link, I'm a puter dummy!!

some of these re-arsenals are rare, mostly its the czech re-arsenals which can have goodies mixed in, the rarest is the east german proofed ones or the TGF marked ones, these sometimes get mixed in
lots of these yugo ones went to eygpt, israel,

one never knows what where these pieces have been

    sprat
Sprat and sprat1 are one and the same.
