stalker, do you have a bayonet for your Mosin? I didnt have one for a long time, but I picked one up a while back and DAMN! That thing is a serious pig sticker! Hell, just fix it to the end of a mop handle if the zombie outbreak happens.

Thanks, Sprat. I use Brownell's Oxpho-blue. Its easy to get a good looking finish that lasts even with frequent handling. I really like that I don't have to rinse it w/ water after application.

Even though it's not easy to find anyone around here now that still does hot blue, that's how I always go. And anything that doesn't pass the sniff test I'll usually pass on unless it's something I'm rebuilding. I've never been a fan of any cold blue or paint system myself, even though it's easier and cheaper. I'm just fussy that way, and probably why I spend to much on redoing my guns most of the time.

Hey twa, now please don't take offence to this. For whatever reason when I read your posts I read them like you are talking in a voice that sounds like the guy from the old Pepperage Farms commercial. "Peprege faams ramembahs". Or the character Jud in "Pet Cemetery" ,
Why do you think that is?

Well as it is I happen to like the New England accents, you should hear me talk Arkie! Alot of the old time accents have all but faded with the advent of radio and TV. I have read that the hillfolk dialect around here up until the late fortys or so was directly related to their Scots-Irish ancestors way of speaking. Some of the elderly still have a trace of it, but mostly its just generic southern these days.

I know we have got off topic so admin if you wish to move this bit please do so.
Anyway, I found this on youtube. Pretty interesting.

You can see on the map in Arkansas the area marked "Ozark". Farther east you will see "Southern Appalaician" and "Smoky Mountain". I would bet that these dialects are very similar. These would be what I call the "hill folk Scots-Irish decendant" dialects. My Grandparents on my moms side had this accent. Kinda sounds like the Clampetts from "Beverly Hilbillys", only not quite so exaggerated.
