Unhappy Anybody had dealings with Cold Steel Solutions?

    Hey Peeps,
I just recieved my 2nd AK receiver blank from CSS. The first one was not to spec.,(I sent it back) and this one isn't either. The first one had the select fire/safety pin dimple on the left side off by .100". Plus it was bowed on the top.(.040") The 2nd one has correct dimple placement, but is still bowed on the top and bottom and the inside is 1.300" instead of 1.250". Am I being to picky here or can I make this work?

I would suggest you ship it back and get a refund. I have used there products and was very unhappy with the 80%ers I got. Mine looked like a 10 year old made it. No kidding! I suggest using these:

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I HIGHLY recommend the Robert Ibe blanks as panaceabeachbum mentioned. They are straight, and the 0.050 "battle blanks" make for a seriously tough receiver.

    Default Coldsteels Response

    The following was Coldsteels response:

    Dennis,

Prior to sending you the second blank, we did test it here in the shop. We fit our trunnion into it and it fit fine(didnt bulge the walls out and didnt pull the walls in to distort the look of the blank, it fit beautifully snug). We sell hundreds of these blanks and have people building on them all the time, as we do ourselves. That being said, AKs were designed to be built with loose tolerances, that blank should work and fit fine. However, we are willing if you are not happy with it to refund your original purchase price to you becasue we feel that we have done all we can to satisfy you"

Am I being a jerk here or is .050" (.025" on each side) too much clearance?
If I can make the work no prob, but I dont want to be jerked around either. This is my first build and I may not know what I am talking about.

    ????? Care to elaborate.
I may have missed something, but I find this unlikely.

I forget the guy's name, but he had a gripe with coldsteel and people were lining up to tell him what a loser he was and how he was being unreasonable. He finally got pissed off and left in a huff.

Ah, here's the pertinent thread. Looks like the complainer edited out his initial post.

I guess I misunderstood your post.
The way it was worded I thought you were saying he was banned for complaining about one of our vendors.

Under the circumstances, the guy was being a little unreasonable, and he got called on it.
He got mad and left on his own.
