Way back, 2001 I think; I bought two kits from them as an individual, and two kits as a business. Different orders, different shipping addresses.
The kits supplied to me personally were very sub-standard vs. the kits supplied to the business. Same description, same price.
I called them out on this. The explanation was weak.
I requested an RMA and a refund on all four kits. I immediately got the RMA on the business side. The personal side took 5 weeks.
Bad attitude, bad way to do biz. They could have easily sorted and listed the kits as Excellent (like what the business side got) good, and poor (like what I got on the personal side). and charged a price commensurate with the various quality of the products.
My opinion of rguns.net is that they are not a vendor that I choose to do business with.
I have no issue with someone being impressed with themselves. I impress myself all of the time. I do have an issue with someone who sells two very different quality products under the same description (Described as Excellent) based on their perception of who the customer is.
If I was not a paranoid type A personality, I would have just ordered all four under the business name and been done with it. But I am Paranoid, and I know that they are out to get me....
Apex. Copes, AK Builder, and a host of other vendors do a great job. They are primarily about the customer being satisfied with their stuff. Copes is an excellent example of this. I am admittedly a Copes Fan-Boy. I have two posts up regarding a recent buy of Medium Alice Packs from them. I have spent several thousand dollars with them, and will spend several thousand more. I do not even care if they are not the best price on a particular item. If I am not satisfied (due to something tangible, not "I changed my mind") they have made it right without delay. That is customer service. That is a customer centric attitude. That is worth money to me. It is simple insurance without a policy. It is a virtual handshake, and they keep up their end of that agreement. That is priceless to me. The fact that they also have great deals, and are at the very least competitive on their normal stuff is a simple bonus.
Being a business owner, I know that this attitude can only derive from the top down. I also know that the employees also subscribe to this attitude, or it would have fallen apart by now.
If there is anyone who has had a negative experience with Copes, APEX, US Cavalry, AK Builder, or any other Gunco Sponsor; please, post it here. I for one would like to know, so that I can exercise appropriate caution.
I will be very surprised to hear about any issues. This, is the best part about being associated with Gunco. They don't drop their drawers for a fast buck.
Keep that in mind, and when you learn something new, or avoid a mistake, or find a gem of wisdom here, take a few minutes and donate a few bucks here and there. I do that, not as often as I should....What can I say, between the Kernel, 4thID, Coils, and at least a hundred others I would be in debt for centuries.
I dislike taking a shot at anyone in their absence. If there are any folks from rguns here, and you find anything I have said objectionable, please post a response to this thread. If I have mis-stated anything, I will be the first to post a public retraction and apology. I would hope that anyone from rguns would do the same.....
