Default Global Trades 1.0 and Joeken's Eubanks Comparison

Ok.. here is the picture thread that shows the 2 receivers.
For the pictures, Joeken's has spots on it.
The thumbs below are HOTLINKED to the bigger version. Just click to enlarge.

    [

For those wondering what stepped rails look like, check out the top rail in this picture

Hardness levels appear to be the same between the 2 receivers.

    FLAWS

    Eubanks
    (1) Front trunion Top Lip. This is where the receiver is bent over and slides INTO the slot in the front trunion. You can see in this photo what I am talking about. The Eubanks is on the bottom, the GT 1.0 is on the top

    (2) and (3) The S/F marking and the Selector Stop Dimple (screwdriver slot looking dimple)

    (4) No Stepped Rails

    (5) Predrilled Trunion Holes (no picture, you can look above)

    (6) Metal thickness. On the Eubanks sample I received, the receiver measured 1.1 MM thick. This measurement was checked several times in several places. On the Global trades Receiver, the measurement was .989 MM thick. The measurements were taken with a digital mic Keep in mind, that this is not a FLAW, just a observation. The OOW receiver is 1.2mm thick.

    GLOBAL TRADES FLAWS

    (1) Silly mag well dimples

    (2) Selector hole and axis pins holes have BURRS in them from machineing.
These will have to be removed in order to prevent binding.

On a side note, this is a personal preference thing, I prefer to have EVERYTHING on the bottom. The Eubanks does that. The sides are totally clean with NO manufacturer markings.
For those building Sidefolders (krink style), you will find that you will have to drill into the Caliber marking on the Eubanks (just the last digit).

I have spoken to Joe @ Joeken concerning the flaws that I found.
Most of them will be fixed on the second batch. If 1 thru 5 are fixed, then IMHO the Eubanks receiver will be perfect.
The Globel Trades Receiver is Pretty perfect IMHO.

Both receivers will be built as AMD65's. The Eubanks will be a pistol, while the GT will be rifle.

Expect a update later this week.
Z_recto, Grady, and myself looked at both receivers and both came to the conclusion's I listed above.

Thanks Charles for the side by side review. Good stuff

The GT 1.0 looks to be the clear winner so far. Just wish the dimples weren't so huge. Maybe Jimmy can get ahead a bit in the cash flow department then purchase a new dimple die.

To add to your GT list of wants, I'd like to add see their receiver cut for single hook trigger.

Please post pics of the finished AMD-65s when you get 'em done.

    Thanks again

    Did I do that?

Sure would be nice to have 2 US manufacturers of excellent stamped receivers. It's a great thing.

Chuck, as of right now, yeah global trades is a clear winner, but if the changes I suggested are done, and they are suppose to be, then Eubanks will be the one to get.

The 5.45 Eubanks receiver will have a smaller manufacturer stamping on the bottom so it will clear the sidefold catch pivet pin.
    Charles,
BIGGER is better, IF you're not on dial up.

    Great review, thanks.
    I'm going to try both.

Great job on the review!!! Now if joeken can get a reputable company like Federal Arms Corp (FAC) to sell it for them I would consider buying the Eubanks receiver.

I prefer a receiver without the front trunion holes due to the differences in the trunions from country to country. I hate to have to weld up and redrill the holes because they might not line up.

Im not whining just that they are huge and mess up the whole window. you can still resize and be able to click on them to enlarge to full screen. And yes, Bigger is better!
