Don't forget to blend or remove the upper lip from the rear receiver stub.
At $5 each, I would burn up 10 of them and still spend less than I did on my VZ58 repair plates! Still, I love how his plates look and the final product will so be worth the extra effort.

How bad did it bow it? there is a chance that it could be saved.

diat150 - is it bowed near the mag well or somewhere else on the receiver?

Here's a little tip to prevent bowing in the reciever when pressing(or pulling) the flat through the jig. Once you have the flat bent and still in the jig setup, Take a C-clamp and give a good squeeze to the sides of the jig(angle iron) right at the level of the reciever clamp plates. I do it in three places along the length of the reciever. This will ensure the entire reciever is folded exactly to the width of the flatstock down the entire length. Hope that helps!

    PS

Had a slight bow on my first reciever due to angle iron flexing using this method. I put that flat back into the jig and C-clamp sqeezed that one to fix it. Worked out well. I've since changed to 2 inch x 3/16 angle to prevent flexing alltogether.

I have one...I welded the rails FIRST (making sure to grind down the bottom of the left rail so it could bend in the jig...it works!
