My 2 cents. When buying the steel for that clamps the flats look for cold rolled and stay away from hot rolled steel. It is flatter and holds the flats in the area of the mag well better. Be sure and break the edge slightly with a file so the bend radius is not to sharp. This made a big difference for me.

2 more cents worth. I used a piece of 3/16" thick for the inside mandrel and used a piece of 1/4" for the outside (backup) piece. The 3/16 was easier to make clear the mag dimples and the 1/4" made the assembly rigid.

Wow! This saved me a pile of cash. Who has a good thread on mounting the inside rails? YES! I'm a rookie.

Try searching for "lower rails", if you can't find it ask again.
