Default helpful website for 922r compliance

For anybody still having a problem grasping the concept of how the 922r law works.

Max, that's a great site. Just throwing this out for discussion:

A guy goes to a gun show. He buys in the parking lot an AK-47 with a domestically manufactured milled receiver. There is no magazine.

All of the other parts appear imported. Is this a legal rifle?

No. He's down 1 U.S. part even with a U.S. mag. Throw a U.S. muzzle device or other part on and GTG.

And, what about "intent" if the buyer has foreign mags in the house?
I have a daughter. I tell her, "911 is what you dial after you're raped. 1911 is what you should have before they try."

If it attaches near the muzzle, you should consider it a "muzzle attachment".

If it attaches near the muzzle, you should consider it a "muzzle attachment".
some were a reputal member claimed to have a letter or something from the ATF stating that a thread protector was not considerd a muzzel device. I have heard argument going both ways. in other words it was not a device that affected flash or recoil.
I would just like there to be a defenitv answer regarding it.

I think that with a non-threaded barrel it would be legal. But it sure is hard to picture that.

From other comments in the article it appears that you can have as many foreign magazines as you want. It may be that the only magazine that counts is the one in the rifle.
