    I don't think the serial dictates much aside from the consecutive number of firearms and parts rolling off the line... I'm more or less after the alphanumeric prefix... But, the serials are equally as important.

    I'm thinking all of the G's were S-XX, whereas the non-G's were XX without the S...

    The 1980 S-AE is interesting... I've yet to see an S-Ax...

    To my knowledge, a lot of european and asian countries use alpha characters for month and date codes... At least they do in the Automotive industry.

    Typically, a date code would be ordered : Year, Month, then day, followed by the serial.
