Default Serial Comparisons, Romy G's only...

    RULES:
    --G'S ONLY!!!
--Please post all serials in one reply, as much as possible. I realize that some weapons may not be at your immediate disposal while others are, but please refrain from posting one serial per reply.
--Please, no auctions/for sales/photos of others' weapons. I don't want someone coming around and being all "TAKE THAT DOWN! I don't want my serial numbers exposed all over the internet!" Owners of the serial consent to my listing it by posting them here. Random auctions and other lists aren't consented by their owners, and I don't want anyone pissed at me.
    --Please post in this fashion:

    1980 XX XXXX
    1980 X-XX XXXX
    1981 X-XX XXXX
    1986 X-XX XXXX

This just keeps the replies to a minimum, and it's easier for me to find where I left off.

    Thanks,
    - CK

So I was thinking... Nobody really knows that much about our rifles, aside from the year it was built and the year and month it was rebuilt...

I'm just sort of curious to see what kind of serial range these things have...

SO! If you've got a front trunnion that was originally a Romy G, please post the year and serial, how it's marked on the trunnion...

    I'll go first:

    1986 S-BT 3027
    1986 S-BP 3244

Ya don't have to contribute, but it'd be nice if you did... With this comparison, we can nail down dates and eventually make a suggested month-of-manufacture chart... Also, it's hella neat...

Ask questions first; Distance? Windage? Elevation?

O.K. I'll play. Triangle with a arrow pointing up 1980 LN 1583. I'll give you some more later when I can get to them.

Almost the same project was started over at the ak forum on January 9 of this year. Not trying to stop this collection, but worth a trip over to get some data on the serial numbers and the armory stamps: The AK Forum :: Log in

The best explanation I've seen regarding the stamps is that, when Romanian introduced their 5.45 rifles, the arrow was dropped from the 5.45 trunnions to distinguish them from the 7.62 trunnions. Then someone noted that the trunnions were identical anyway, so all trunnions were stamped without the arrow. Saved a step and didn't make any difference to function.
I have a daughter. I tell her, "911 is what you dial after you're raped. 1911 is what you should have before they try."

    MUSIBIKE, 1phast340: Are these G's or non-G's?

Flopshot: The xx doesn't help us out...

I don't think the serial dictates much aside from the consecutive number of firearms and parts rolling off the line... I'm more or less after the alphanumeric prefix... But, the serials are equally as important.

I'm thinking all of the G's were S-XX, whereas the non-G's were XX without the S...

    Thanks, guys!

The 1980 S-AE is interesting... I've yet to see an S-Ax...
