So i got the front end of a Weiger .223 barrel and AK-74 parts back from restoreit, who re-profiled the Weiger barrel and pressed and pinned all the stuff on, also headspaced it. Awesome job he did
So here is everything Im working with, all laid out. After I took the pic, i decided to use an Ace folder instead of the wood stock.
So first thing I did was mark where i needed to remove metal from the Cold Steel Solutions 80% blank. I used an AK-Builder.com 5.45 flat, then i checked everything with my calipers and ak blueprints of course....
Then it was dremel time!
Once all that was done, I used the tape method to locate the trunnion holes, and drilled and riveted.
Then i put the AK-Builder Ace folding rear trunnion in that sucker, and used a ball-pean hammer.
Then I drilled and mounted the mag catch.
Yugo pistol grip, stock mounted just to see it.
Then more fun stuff - marking and drilling the FCG holes, did it right the first time! yay!
After that it came time to put some rails in it.
Then after some heat treating, stuck the front end in it for a mock up to see how she's gonna look. Still need to get a center brace rivet, different (US made) FCG, and a retainer plate.
Im VERY pleased with it so far... more to follow
