Thanks guys. It looks like they are the same, or at least close enough that I don't care. Pricey part all around though!

Edit: Though, if anyone has both handy and can do a detailed photo op or at least give their opinion on similarities/differences, I'd appreciate it.

It's not attached yet, was thinking of blind pinning it....
Do you have a reversible recommendation?
Blind pinning will work and can be undone, if you go straight in at the barrel, write down the depth so you know how far to go when you drill out the pin.
You could also go along the side of the barrel, like the retaining pins for the FSB/GB, just don't drill all the way through the barrel extension. This way you can drill in from the opposite side until you hit the pin, then it can be driven out.
If I remember right the barrel goes out to the end of the FSB/GB and you can drill through the unthreaded part, this way it's only seen if you remove the muzzle device when you do the SBR thing.

As for comparing the two, look at the thread 762 posted, it's his build and there's a couple pics that should give enough detail of the FSB.

    Thanks coils,

I wasn't sure about the difficulty of drilling out the pins once they've been welded over. Going from the opposite side makes sense though if they aren't welded over.

I've seen conflicting information on whether the welding is required or not...

Yes indeed! Nothing like trying to follow vague or ambiguous rules and opinions - which are subject to change and carry life-changing consequences - to make a person feel confident

I thought silver brazing was acceptable?

It is, but it's just a prefrence type thing if you want to solder, weld or pin

+1 On not wanting to "burn" a GB/FSB if at all possible! It seems like you want to keep things looking stock, and I know the thread is on where to get the part... it's just the GB/FSB - thing has been a burr under my saddle (and others, I'm sure) when thinking about "krink-sizing" a`74 parts kit: either spend $100+ for a GB/FSB, cut/mill and fashion the 2 parts together in welded bliss, or go funky and attach a 14mm to 24mm thread adapter to an I.O. Inc. GB/FSB - it doesn't have a muzzle device detent, but heck, it's gonna get 'permanented' anyway!

I guess there also remains the possibility of just using a 16" AK builder barrel with fake suppressor cover. Then when I SBR it, nothing will be permanently pinned, and all I'll have to do is change the barrel to the original one.

I think so. I think it's the same one as is included in this kit:

but I haven't inquired about it yet.

Incidentally, I had no idea that I could buy an M92 pistol with a Serbian-made receiver for ~$600...
