Agree 100%. General consensus in the example of the AMD-65 barrel extension is that the extension, although spot welded or brazed to the barrel AND to the muzzle brake, is still a separate and individual part. FWIW.

Yes if you are in the US and bent the flat in the USA it is "Made in the USA"

    2. Barrels
    3. Barrel extensions
    4. Mounting blocks (trunnions)
    5. Muzzle attachments
    6. Bolts
    7. Bolt carriers
    8. Operating rods
    9. Gas pistons
    10. Trigger housings
    11. Triggers
    12. Hammers
    13. Sears
    14. Disconnectors
    15. Buttstocks
    16. Pistol grips
    17. Forearms, handguards
    18. Magazine bodies
    19. Followers
    20. Floorplates
So...even if I have 6 US parts {receiver, trigger, hammer, disconnector, pistol grip, and gas piston} NOT counting the magazine - I would still be illegal if my magazine didn't have at least one {1} US part??

I.e., the above 6 "US made" plus.......

    #1 - barrel
    #2 - barrel trunion
#3 - stock trunion?/mounting block/part that connects stock to receiver
    #4 - stock
    #5 - forearms/handguards {1 part}
    #6 - bolt carrier
    #7 - bolt
    #8 - muzzle attachment
    #9 - mag body
    #10 - mag spring
    #11 - mag follower

    17 parts... ? Hmm.
Question. Is the part that connects the stock to the receiver considered part of the stock and do the 2 together = one {1} part? I.e., can I delete #3 above?
Thank you for the help. - Steven

Although I've been doing these things for a few days, I get confused as well.

But I think you've counted the trunnions twice instead of once.

Correct, #3 on your list, the stock tang, is not a countable part.

Okay, here goes with another possibly stupid question:

What law or regulation actually names the weapons which were banned from importation in '89, and/or defines the prohibited features thereof? I've searched through the USC and CFRs and damned if I can find it.

Anyone? Maybe it just isn't defined anywhere in regulation, and that is why they aren't enforcing 922r?

I could be wrong about this, but I think the '89 import ban was an executive order by George Bush. I don't know how to search for that info, but I think that's the story.
    Anyone? Doesn't that sound right?
