That's what I was thinking. Alot of time is involved in setting those holes right egging them out if the thing shifts on you.

Another way is a pancake drill. Ask 2ND about a pancake drill. It's a game changer.

Check out the trunnion pics in this thread, first one is at the bottom of the first page and there's another on the second page. I think they will help

Thanks for the extra help guys! Yea maybe it's good I got a virgin trunnion

Coils, thanks for the links to the pics -- yup much better than the crappy ones I tried to take with my phone and show the recesses inside the trunnion very clearly where the rivets are suppsoed to go.

Make yourself a hole finder, clip it on the receiver and trunion and you should be able to stick a sharpie in the drill hole, move the hole finder around in the rivet recess and mark out where they are on the receiver. Then just center your drill in the sharpie marks and drill your rivet hole. I'll see if I can locate my hole finder.

Found a pic of it. Clip the bent arm inside the trunion bore. The hole in the sheet metal lets you know where the bent arm is inside of the trunion. I made it form a section of steel receiver scrap with a nail welded to it that had the head cut off and the tip rounded off and bent so that it would lock into the rivet holes. It'll work for yours, it'll just let you know where the rivet pockets are on the receiver.
