    Default Polish kits from Apex

Anyone else order one of these while they had em in stock? I did. Got it in the mail today.

The website said the bolt, carrier and trunnion matched. Mine is 100%, top cover, RSB, recoil spring, everything. Pretty sweet, its a 1967, in amazing condition. I bought one of the Romy barrels they sell to go with it.

Problem i ran into today when i was oogling everything, was the barrel slides in and out of the trunnion, no friction at all. I was under the impression that they would work together? ANyone else run into this or did i just luck out with a slightly oversized trunnion and a slightly undersized barrel? Also any recommendations on how to proceed? Knurl the barrel?

    Thanks in advance!

If the fit is not super sloppy you can knurl the barrel . . only knurl the area that the trunion touches so it dosent show .

there are at least 4 sizes of rommy barrels . most are # 2 the stamp onthe barrel should tell if its a original .

Couple of things, updates i guess. I made a little youtube video for referrence.

Trunnion measured 23.02mm-23.05mm. The romanian barrel measured at ~22.98mm. On a whim I found a green mountain barrel, "1975 profile" that said it work with the polish kits. Too small for the trunnion also! Here is the video:

Anyways, the people at Apex dug around and found one more romanian barrel that measures at ~23.30mm (i think thats what they said). Im going to give that one a shot and see what happens. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on the video? Is it the trunnion or the barrels that are out of spec? Thanks again!

Sounds like an oversize trunion. I had one like that. I ended up knurling the bbl journal. Worked like a charm.

I had some Romy trunions marked with a '3' on the top flat area and they were oversized for a standard Romy barrel too. Guys here suggested knurling to solve the problem, have not tried it yet though.

IMO those interference fits are way to tight . seriously a ,005: press fit for a hardened steel part with only a 1/2 bore . way way to tight IMO
