Obama will go for the Ban on sales then would totally support any Ban on Sales and / or Possession of any firearms the House and Senate would send for his signature. Confiscation would depend upon if the law came in his first term or should he become lame duck.
McCain would sign a Ban on sales of so called military style weapons if passed with a veto proof majority or possibly near veto proof vote.
Confiscation ? IMHO he would go gor it if a veto proof vote passed the law or if he was a lame duck dealing with a majority vote on such a law.

Obama and Clinton already have a track record of banning guns, federally and statewide. What information do you have to support your claim that McCain would ban any military type weapon? McCain has been in the political arena since before there was dirt in my back yard. He has had plenty of bills come before him banning assault weapons, hi-cap mags, ammo, etc. yet he has chosen to vote against every gun control ban ever introduced. Do you have a link or are you just blowing smoke?
