special warining to those Californian's who attend gun-shows in Nevada and Arizona, the ATF routinely monitors the plates of vehicles coming into the gun show parking lots. These numbers are forwarded to the CHP--whom you will see sitting on the interstates running plates as cars enter. If you attended a gun-show, and parked in the provided lot... there is a high-chance that you will be stopped and searched.
There is some good reading on this topic on Cal-guns I believe. If you want to go to a gun show out of state--rent a car when you get there, or take a taxi from your hotel.
Also... do not have NRA stickers, Glock factory stickers or anything similar on your car. The CHP is instructed to pull these cars over if they are entering the state--especially when there is a gun show in Vegas, Pheonix or Reno. These make you a target.

Very Good advise. I've seen cars pulled over and searched by state police accross CA state border, although Profiling gun show buyers is totally illegal.. Attending a gun show is not against the law nor is it.. P.C. to search a vehicle and if you need to know about this stuff... you need to order the book "you and the police" By Boston T Party don't let the police or state abuse your rights because you don't know them... never consent to a search...let me say that again; never consent to a search... As for the original question, if your feel your doing something that is not legal, you can choose to send the guy his money back and sell the magazines to someone in another state.. but guys in other states you may have the same laws as California in a few short months... the AWB II is before you... if the democrats win, your fitting to get Dorked hard....
