.223 Saiga barrel threading question?

Could you thead a .223 Saiga barrel for 14x1 LH?

Please measure the outside diameter of the barrel at the muzzle.

Machinery"s Handbook #24, meteric conversion table on page 2455 says:

Millimetre times 0.03937008 equals inch

Now plug in the values:

14mm X 0.03937008 = 0.55118"

Therefore, you barrel at the muzzle end will have to be about 0.551" in diameter in order to thread it 14mm X 1 left hand thread.

I believe the muzzle is the same diameter as the 7.62 AK barrel.I compared an AK74 barrel to a Saiga 223 barrel.it looked like the components were all the same size and in the same location.The front sight might be a bit different.I was thinking an AK74 front sight and muzzle brake would look good on the 223 Saiga.The AK74 from Russia and Bulgaria are the same diameter at the muzzle as the 7.62 AK.The Romanian ones are skinnier/smaller diameter.
