We just figured out how to post pics with scanner.Screw build on bent blank.
AK74 bulgarian kit from k-var
Nicely done. That is my next build. Waiting on a finish for the receiver.
Thank you.I meant to mention that I got the kit for Christmas last year from my wife right before they sold out. $189.00 vs. what, about $400.00 now?No way I could swing that.Thats nearly 4 romainians!Anyway,it shoots great,I've put about 500 rnds through her with no problems.
That does look good man, kudos!

Very nicely done, on the price and the build.
Thats a good looking build!
I just finished up two Black poly 74s myself. The 74 sure shoots nice. I have a wood kit like yours still sitting waiting on a receiver. Is that the brown or fire-brick mag?

I just finished building one of these babies. Yeah, they're $400 now but I didn't pay that (for this one, at least).
Anyways, it's now my favorite AK. Sweet shooting, softie.
I trimmed the extractor too short and was getting all sorts of freaky malfunctions. Had a friend of mine add a little weld to the end of the ejector and now it functions 100% and flings the brass 20' straight out to the right.
There's somethin about 5.45......
Also, you can't escape that the parts on these kits were in really good condition and quality. Having good material to work with makes life easier and makes a better final product.
Most everybody ignored the 5.45 when it was around. Odd ball caliber. Why not just get a 5.56 was the thinking. Now everytime someone puts one together and lights it up, they say "Wow, what a neat caliber!" They shoot like a dream and the power behind the bullet is awesome.
Vulcan, the mag is saddle brown as advertised at k-var.I also have one, E.German that is orange bakelite. Both function flawlessly.I love all my AK's,but my 74 bulgy is easily my fav. Only prob. is ammo has to be ordered, found none local. Next step is to put the proper scope mount on her.
