    Default interesting AMD project

First off, thanks Max for the invite to these forums, it looks like it will be interesting.

I saw a picture of an interesting project done with an AMD65 barrel. It was made to be legal length and had a ventilated barrel shroud around it with an interesting site in place of the front sight. I will see if I can find the pic and post it, but I was wondering if anyone has thought of any other interesting projects for the amd65 barrels. I still think a fake can instead of the barrel extension and muzzlebrake would be neat, also would the AMD65 be a good platform for trying a bullpup design on?

Thumbs up way ahead of you...

    Sniper,

    I'm way ahead of ya.

I'm currently doing a AMD-65 bullpup build. I'm going so as a snail since I'm at college and have very limited time to work.

    Here's my progress so far...
-well i took a picture but i'm not quite sure how to get it loaded, i tried to attach it but 128kb was too big-

    Details are:

for the barrel extension, I am welding a 6" steel extension on gun to bring it to legal length. then I have a fake aluminum can i will screw on over it. The fake can is basically done but I still have to cut the outside threads of the steel extension.

I am going to replace the sight block with a 4 rail piece (i saw a AR-15 4 rail gas block and liked it so I'm just making one for my AK.) my forward grip will attach to this and also any other weaver type stuff I want. I wasn't going to have any iron sights but now I may make a detachable front sight for it.

The trigger is cut to fit in the handguard but I haven't had time to make the arm where to link the front to the rear.

And I still need to bend and build my 4130 sheet into a receiver. I want to modify my jig just a little to solve a few small problems with the first one I built.

I'll try to figure out how to get a picture on here.
    -Tim

    romack991,
to attach a picture you can either use the img button (which looks like a mountain with yellow background [below the size button in the reply to message screen]). Another way is to use the [] with IMG in the first one before the url of the picture and [] with /IMG in the one following the url to the picture.

Also what you are doing sounds interesting. how much for a fake can and a barrel extension if you were to sell one? Also what kind of stock are you thinking of using on the bullpup design? is it going to be similar to the one kvar or FAC sells? Or do you have some neat original design (sometimes those are the best, lol). I have thought about the idea a little but haven't really gone beyond the thinking about it stage. Sounds like you are way ahead of me .

Looks good. I like the concept of the second p grip by the end of the barrel and beginning of the fake can. Would that design cause any problems with accuracy though (like upward pressure at that point - hell I don't know I'm just guessing). Also would you be running the armature for the trigger through the front trunion to the FCG in the original spot in the receiver?

Maybe I need to buy some of the AMD65 kits while the price is good, lol.

the linkage will run under the front trunion.

The grip might change impact point but not sure about accuracy. not looking for a tack driver in this, just something different.

For your linkage, are you planning on using a wire like K-Var? Or would you use something like the M11/9 semi-auto? That might be tough, though. You'd have to make it fit under the trunnion, around the magwell, under the hammer, stay in place, and be removable... Hey... You're an engineering student, so you shouldn't have any problem designing the linkage. Just make sure it doesn't require EDM or CNC so the rest of us can copy it when you're finished.

My prototype linkage is a cutoff piece of coat hanger bent with a pliers.

I'm trying to use a 1/8 square stock for my trigger link, it is stiffer.

I realy like the look of the top one . It realy looks factory made, the front grip looks like it belongs their. the lower one looses me due to the install meathod of the front grip. Hay who can account for taste.
