Default Test To Destruction Rifle Finished

Okay, remember this post Test To Destruction where I decided to build a rifle with out heat treating the FCG holes. Relying soley on the hardness of the laser cuts.

Well, I finally finished the Romanian "G" rifle. It was completed a while ago and has 60 rounds towards the test (it's got a long way to go). The weather was nice enough yesterday so that I could put some GunKote on it. For a change of pace, I decided to try the semi-gloss finish like those AK-74 Bulgarian kits we were able to buy back when.

I just wish I knew more about taking pictures, maybe that's something to work on later?

Hey, anyone want to go shooting. Blaze away with this rifle, oh, you have to supply the ammo...

with the high (perhaps corrected) cost of 7.62 ammo I suspect that it would cost well in excess of 1000 dollars to find out how many licks it would to get to the center of that Tootsie Pop. I have seen full Auto AK's take a hell of a beating and run until the fore-grips cought on fire (no flame just a hell of a lot of smoke) and they just keep going and going. I never did see the damn thing die. Maybe we can take up a collection to see this test happen, I'll put 10 dollars to it anyone else?

Hell, even if I did get ammo donations, I'd need help shooting the stuff...any takers?

If you don't have FCG pin hole wear within the first 500 rounds I doubt you will ever have problems. Being that the cutting process tempered the steel somewhat, my money is that you will end up with round FCG holes and a bunch of empty cartridge cases.

Dixon -- before I ended out with more of these than Carter has little pills, there was a Rommie on a bent that got shot alot. All 5 kids were home with their friends and ammo was $70/m.

They brought it to me because the trigger, which had been quite nice, became irregular.

The trigger axis hole on the small side, but not the hammer, had wallowed out. I think it was from the shock of the hammer against the disconnector.

I welded a washer on the inside.

    Max,
Was the receiver a TAPCO flat or a pre-bent Ace type?

    Jerry,
I'd love to attend the Gunco shoot but that's just to far in advance to make any plans, my life is just to fluid right now.
