    Default Next project, RPK 74

    I got one of the used wood rpk kits from ORF. It is a little rough on the outside but inside it looks ok. I normally start with a like new kit, but the difference in price for the new ones is almost 1k more, so for an extra hour to blast and park the parts it is worth the savings.
    I got a new plum stock set from Illya for it and after refinishing the metal it should look good. I have to pick up the DCI receiver monday after work and hope to have it done for the weekend. I hope SG comes through with my ammo order as I am almost out of 5.45.

    Yeah I've thought the same thing - $1k for a "nicer" finish just isn't worth it. Didn't realize your time was so valuable, eh?

    Did you see the ribbed 45-rounder mags that Andrei had a few weeks back? IIRC they were about $300 each and he only had one or two of them. I couldn't justify the $300 for a magazine so I passed...

    He still has some of the 45 rnd 5.45 Molot mags listed on Gunbroker;
    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=45423354
    The mags are "only" $185 and they are in Seattle so shipping time is quick. He has them listed as black but the one I got was really plum in color. $185 is a relative bargain because as you noted they have run around the $300 mark up till recently. They are such a bargain, just ask BigAl how many of these he bought.

    BTW, I do know someone who filled a pouch with these
