    Default Welding Question

I have a question for welders on this forum. Has anyone tried welding on a Chinese milled receiver? I have a milled MAK90 that I would like to make into a Polytech Legend clone. I bought a new barrel assembly to get the original gas block and front sight block. I want to weld the lower tang and wedge shaped part from a Type III milled receiver stub on to the milled MAK receiver so it will look like the Legend and accept a Chinese milled type buttstock. I know I would have to re-blue but what type of welding do you think would be the best to use in this case?

I think TIG welding with mild-carbon filler would be best. Grind a V-notch in the tang and reciever and fill in with weld. Remember it will draw a little.
