Default Yugo M92 Pistol Project Done-Pics

First off, I am aware that a lot of AK fans are not to keen on Pistol builds and thats cool with me. I have built both fixed and UF rifle kits and love them all. Russian classic milled, Polish and Romy. I wanted a Krink style unit and the price of the Yugo M92s finnally droped to a point that I could see building one. To me the SBR route added too much cost to the build and where I live the local Chief of Police is very hostile to signing off on these. So, I diciced to go Pistol. So far its been a gas to shoot and I have had a lot of fun with it. I went with an NDS premium AKM rec and used all of the parts needed from the ones that came with the kit. Not much modification needed on the NDS at all.

Excellent job!! great looking pistol. I have one too. I just love AK pistols more than the rifles. They are accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. I have a pistol to match al my ak rifle builds. my current project is one in .223.
    keep up the good work!!

Wow, thanks for all of the complements. It really means something coming from fellow builders.
Harry, the stocks were unfinished and pretty dirty when I got the kit. I cleaned them with denatured alcohol. Then did a light sanding with fine grit paper. About three coats of red mahogany stain with steel wool rub inbetween coats. Finished off with three coats of amber shellac with the steel wool rub down. As I dont really plan on getting this one wet I held off on a clear spray on spar urethane final coat.
I found the twenty round mags at a local gun show last year. A vendor had a huge display of nothing but mags for just about any auto ever made. Lots of AK mags but at the time as luck would have it I was low on cash so I settled for some of the East German 20 Rounders and a few more Russian 30 round ribbed he had. They were a little pricy but not too bad.
Pirate56, which .223 kit have you used for your projects? I have looked at one on the ORF web site that has kind of put the bite on me to maybe build a .223 AK. I have never owned a .223 and it would be neat to have one on the AK platform. Back when you could still get new ChiCom AKs here in the states they had them in .223 for cheap. Wish I had bought one.

    Thanks goose,
that really is a nice setup, i like the looks of the 20 round mags better on a pistol.
i think ill do the same on my M92 wood, except for shellac.
ill use pure tung oil because its much easier to spot fix dents and dings.
did the amber shellac change the mohogany color much?
