Postak My AK builds so far......

I had some time today waiting for all of the family to show up for the holidays.
So I set out all of the builds I have completed so far.
I hung them in the order I completed them.

    Top to bottom:

    Hungarian AMD63........screw build.......Vulcan receiver.
    Bulgarian AK74............screw build.......OOW receiver.
    Yugoslavian M70B1......screw build.......Greenlight receiver.
    Yugoslavian M70 UF......rivet build........OOW receiver.
    Bulgarian AKS-74..........rivet build........OOW receiver.
    Yugoslavian M72...........rivet build........NDS receiver.

I also have a few in the works:

    Polish wz.88
    Polish AKMS
    Romanian ?G?
Czechoslovakian vz58 .......I know, it?s not an AK
    Yugoslavian M76

Has anybody had any success converting a screw build to rivets?
I used 10x32 screws for my screw builds.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Jerry,
Very nice family you have there. The finish of the wood AND the metal is stunning.
What did you use for the metal finish?
Have a great time this Christmas Season!

About your screws to rivets. Yes, it will work fine and it has been done.

I have been tempted to try a screw build, but I heard a lot of bad stuff about it. How has your experience been?
I was not delivered into this world into defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd.
I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep.
The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.
I will persist until I succeed.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Most of the kits I built these from were like new except for the Yugos, and I was very fortunate that the wood was in good shape on them.

For the rifles with a black finish I used Duracoat, applied with an airbrush.

On the M70B1 I used Blue Wonder cold blue, it started out as a very dark blue that has since faded a lot, however it now matches the worn blue finish on the of the rifle. I just hope it stops fading now.

On the M72 I used a rust bluing process for the receiver, the rest of the rifle finish was untouched.

As far as the screw builds and any problems, I have had zero problems, the same as AKmainAK.
However, I should point out that I have only about 200 rounds through each of the rifles at this point.
