Doubletapme designed & built the first 9mm Suomi-drumfed AK's. They are really fun builds!
I sent him pics of my MG47 build as it progressed, hoping he'd jump onboard - and here's what he built

*Receiver and lower is semi-only* so please, no tangent remarks on that, please

Doubletapme is a REAL machinist (unlike myself) as the pics show. You see what he did differently, inside

Here's some video of my first testfires

    Double tap.

That is another great looking build. Should take a while for the barrel to heat up on that one.

One other question. On cntrailrider's build pics it looks like a MG3 feed tray then he switched to a MG1 without the flipper on the tray. Is there a reason that a MG3 tray wouldn't except for the drum bracket being in the way of the ejection port?

god i'd seriously pay $400 for a receiver!
If any punk kid ever comes up to you asking for your `Gang Sign` Tap your chest twice then your forehead once. After doing that only upon a threat do you draw your glock and show him what you meant.

    Gunter -

I switched alot of things as I went, but yes I had to cut the drum bracket off the MG3 tray for the ejection port

I can run either feed tray. MG3 tray has the spring-loaded cartridge stop (easier handcycling & test-feed during the build) but the MG1 tray seems to feed/shoot better. Remember I am running a stock piston - don't have excess pressure to waste, driving springs, generators, appliances etc

Bought my tubing at the local steel supply for about $30 (enough for two) I call first, @ $3 a gallon

    Doubletapme
I think you did a much better job on your build than I did. Very nice machining. I like your double return spring and the way you modified your bolt carrier. I also like the Bren barrel. Looks like you made a oversize gas piston.

Again, a much better job than I did.

    SHARPSSHOOTER,
The credit is all yours for coming up with the idea.
I am thoroughly impressed with your build and steve's.

The bren barrel is huge and makes for a very heavy weapon. It works great from a bench or prone position but you could not fire it off hand very easy. Later I am going to build another in a lightweight carbine version.

Doubletapme built this ingenious twin-spring set-up
