I'm fine, I have built a couple of MG53s and a Bren since I made the MG47BP. I haven't been back to the MG47 concept since. Too busy with other projects. I am gathering parts to build a 5.56 FAL now and then want to build a BAR as well as a Lafayette style tripod for the MG53s..
I also rebuilt the engine in my 90 blazer and turbocharged my son's Ford Focus this past year. I have been busy, just not on the Mg47 concept. I am not real sure where to take it from here. Interest has kind of died down in it. Even Cntrailrider has stopped building varients of it. I have given away about half a dozen sets of plans and the tutorial to Vets and Service men in the past year and sold a couple.
I would like to know how many actual successfull working builds have been made.

What do you attribute the declined interest in this exceptional idea to?

Lacking skills, ammo costs, kit costs, or deficiencies of the concept (left side ejection...)?

I noticed that in the recent years the overall focus on gunco moved from "building" to "ranting".

Just added another rant ;-) while filing away on a MG47 receiver.

I think it's mostly due to the state of the economy, cost of parts, lack of cheap kits with barrels and how the cost of ammo has shot up. To build one costs 2 to 4 times what it would cost to build a standard AK. Plus, it's not an easy build, infact, it's quite complicated and not for the novice builder. Getting one put together is not the problem, its making all the different parts not originally designed to work together to actually do just that. I came up with the first one just to see if I could do it and never imagined it to be of any interest to any body else.

I will make one as soon as get back (in several months), get settled into civi life again, I find my tools in the storage unit, and buy some parts. I will have a few weeks of leave to take that I will build one.

    Tom,

its a great build and quite the looker.

honestly, just never took it up cause ive got too many beltfeds already and my time has been occupied on these thompson conversions.

a build being complicated is part of the challenge and what makes lots of us want to try something like this.

I hope to do one of these builds when I am back in the states. Of course a lot depends on some of the parts availability at that time.
