Vector Arms AKM Heavy Barrel
Looks like they used a Russian type 3 barrel assembly with the threads turned down and pressed into an East German trunnion. Magpul stock, Vltor tube, CTR grip, Krebs rail, Primary Weapons flash hider, G2 FCG, Ncstar compact mildot 3x9 illuminated reticle. It is my plate gun.

Updated SA93 with replacement gas block, FSB, and cleaning rod. Still need to thread the muzzle and install the lower tang.

New Updates SA93
Bulgy Type 3 gas block and FSB. Kvar lower stock tang -- not as good as a factory original piece as only one rivet can be mounted inside the receiver instead of two, but it does the job. Roughed out the rear receiver, then hand filed the lower tang recess over a few afternoons. Z-recto magic'ed Polish laminate.

Doc -- The piece on the AMD stock -- Welded? Steel tube flattened on ends? I know there are folks not bothered in the least shooting these, I'm just not one of them. Your solution is elegant.

Beautiful guns man. I love that SLR107.

I see a true Krink SBR in my future some day...love those damn things.

Doc, I love the Valmet, and the Vepr 12. Sweet! What the hell kind of cool arse mag release is that on the left side of the Vepr?!?!

#248 ·
That is a factory competition thumb release that attaches to the factory long-tab magazine release. It is a bolt on piece with a little ball and socket joint between the armature and the piece attached to the magazine release. It takes some getting used to but it is a slick little add-on.

Thanks Doc!!! That is an interesting piece. I might have to try and make me one of them, and try it out.

Good Man with the enamel Doc. Oh hell yeah that is all we used. Hell NASCAR uses it on their race engines. Short of a good hot commercial bluing, we tested em all and that stood up better than anything we tried.
A 100% must be stripped weapon not even a finger print on them, like stripped dipped and clean. Apply engine enamel bake done. Hell I got AKs in the room I have to redoe we did with the fancy $$ stuff, enamel is holding up to everything just fine.
Some fun wars in the early days on enamel.

I used to use the high temp engine enamel exclusively in Semi gloss black. I found this Rustoleum enamel in satin black which seemed to match up even closer to original. I switch back and forth.

Bingo Doc. I sat back and listened to all the million dollar coating guys. How dare you paint an AK.. 10 yr. old AKs. Beat, chemical cleaners, left out, looking new. :nanabang:

My IZ132 conversion...
I was going for the AK103 clone but didn't have the side fold stock and wasn't going to go as far as to "dimple" the FSB & GB, so basically it's a SGL21-71. All the leftover receiver holes and the BHO slot next to the trigger were TIG'd and then the whole rifle was Cerakoted in flat black. Just waiting to get back home to install my 0-1000m site leaf. The 74 style brake is chambered for 7.62. I've had so many ask me if I drilled that out, SMH...sigh*
All said and done, it was ~$300 total since I already have a supply of necessary parts & tooling.
