    Default New Romanian Build

Well I have mostly finished up a new Romanian build. I bent the flat and used a 1981 G kit. After some fussing with the mag well, she is running fine. I finished the metal with black Appliance Epoxy and baked it today at 300* for just over an hour. Now I have to refinish the wood. I can't make up my mind if I want to go with a light finish or find one that is really red like the Russian AKs. The first one that I put together I went with a dark mahgonay stain. I am thinking about something different this time. Here are a couple of pictures.

Here is a picture of the first AK that I did.

The colors are fine, but the pictures don't really show the wear on the stock. It has a bunch of dents and some areas that don't have much finish left on them.

    Nice job on the build.

Is that a 60 Chevy I see in the background?

I think I have an equal if not longer time in the first build then the second one. The first one was with a purchased receiver and for the second I rolled my own. The third one has been a real trip. The barrel pin would not come out for anything. I used heat, soaked it in oil for a week, bend numerous pins trying to push it out and blew up a hardened tool trying to get it out. At this point it has a date with the MIG welder.
