    Default Tabuk......almost...

I still have some final touches to make like adding the correct Tabuk style flash hider and skeletal butt stock and refinishing the metal (parkerize then likely paint matte black). It's not an exact replica as I don't have the correct type of front sight and a few other details, but......

*Barrel from Cope's. 2 inches longer than correct length. I may correct that later if I feel really motivated or come up with a correct tabuk type front sight unit. I mounted an AMD-65 muzzle device for now. I just got a Tabuk one from the folks at spud after taking the picture.

*DCI yugo receiver with the Yugo top cover lock mechanism. Not correct, but I like that feature.
*SVD type rear sight, adjustable for windage, looks very close to Tabuk type
*Russian Dragunov type scope rail modified to look like Tabuk type (Almost. Can't tell with scope mounted)
*Yugo M70 kit with the gas block modified for Tabuk look by removing the grenade launcher components, fill welding the holes, then grinding to shape. PITA!
    *Yugo M64 front sight

The bipod was just clamped on to hold the rifle for picture taking.

Looks great. I think a standard milled receiver gas block would fit. They are very close to the Yugo ones in size. The Chinese gas block looks close also but I think the milled receiver gas block is closest.

    Thumbs up Nice Ret Vet

Hell I would leave er like she is. I like it..
I think we all put too much emphasis on the correct matching parts.

Thanks. I got the flash hider late yesterday. I think adding it and the different butt stock will be as far as I go. I do like the look of the AMD65 muzzle device on it though. Gives it that mean look like it's a bigger caliber than what it really is.

    Looking real nice.
I've got 2 Tabuk builds coming on slow.

    From last weekends 7.62 x 39 shoot.
300 yards leaves the 39mm round lacking on a 3/4"
    steel plate.

Garand makes an impressive 1/2" divot on said plate.
    39mm, leaves only a 1/8" scratch.

The 39mm was from a 16"barrel, so there would be some
compensation from the longer Tabuk barrel.

It's simply a matter of interest that would drive the Iraqi mind
to conceive of a sniper rifle in this caliber classification.

I won't let this fact defer my intention to complete my Tabuk
builds. It's just the learning curve that will come back to
illustrate certain aspects. Fun is the main concern in my book.

Think of it as a designated marksman rifle not a snipers weapon.
