    Default The AK-41 a gas operated 7.62x25

I finally have it "done". I originally posted this build in the conversions to other calibers section when I first got it working. The original link with many build photos is:

    http://www.gunco.net/forums/f244/7-6...-pistol-45698/

I have made another receiver to correct many flaws of my first attempt. After test firing the new receiver as a screw build, I parkarized the parts, riveted them together and parkerized again. I also used a solution from Caswell plating as a post parkerizing "blackening solution". It came out real black and corrected a few sins I had with the parkerizing on the barrel.

I called it a AK-41 because it is mostly an AK-47 with the barrel and mags of a PPSH-41. The magwell originated from Lichtenburg Research and Design. The pistol takes the 71 round drum and the 31 round stick mag.

I have the gun running so good I made a stronger hammer spring that I will add to the post when I get the time.

I hope you like it! I am glad to respond to all questions and advance the craft.

Thanks man! I am enjoying a nice Newcastle ale right now. A project isn't done until you post it for all to enjoy.

If you can post a video of a range test, that would be great for us
    builders.

I don't have the technology. Sorry. It would be pretty boring. It just spits out the rounds with out much recoil. It seemed acurate in the initial testing. We will see how it works out next time.

Great build, I'm glad you got the bugs worked out.

I'll have to read over your other thread again and might try this.

I bought one of the Lichtenburg Research and Design 2XTM magwells. I cut the upper right front surface of it so I could leave more meat on the front trunnion's right locking lug. There is also not much of the feed ramp left. I had to grind a bunch of it away to clearance the bolt as it rotates into locking position. I don't think the rounds are touching it as they feed into the chamber.
